WHAT IS HASTINGS TAP TAKEOVER?
Hastings Tap Takeover is an annual event celebrating the very best independent breweries from the UK and beyond. It takes place in multiple venues across the historic towns of Hastings and neighbouring St Leonards, on the Sussex coast. Over a single weekend in October, each venue will showcase an independent brewery of their choice by turning over their taps to the brewery for the whole weekend. Think of it as a beer festival across a whole town.
WHAT IS A TAP TAKEOVER, EXACTLY?
It's when a pub, bar or other beer-serving venue turns over all (or a large proportion) of its taps to a single brewery, in this case for a whole weekend. Some venues might be serving only cask beers, some only keg, and others a mix of the two, but you can guarantee that between all the venues and breweries involved, there will be something for every taste and every preference.
DO I NEED A TICKET?
No. All the participating venues are open as normal as they would be on any other weekend - there are no tickets or entry fees required anywhere. Just come along and get involved! Please bear in mind that different venues will have different opening hours, different capacities and different ways of operating. If you have particular requirements around accessibility, or if you need to confirm details of opening hours or facilities, please get in touch with venues directly. I'M NOT FROM HASTINGS - HOW WILL I FIND THE VENUES?
You'll be able to pick up a handy map from any one of the participating venues in the run up to the event, but if you're coming from out of town, and you don't know where to head first, you can find the map here.
I RUN A VENUE - HOW DO WE TAKE PART?
If you run an independent, beer-focused pub, bar or other venue, you've got enough taps and you'd like to be involved in the future, feel free to drop us an email at hastingstaptakeover@gmail.com. Please bear in mind that Hastings Tap Takeover is all about celebrating the best independent breweries - if you're not a beer-focused venue, or you don't regularly serve products from independent breweries, this probably isn't the event for you. Applications open in June, so get in touch early!
I RUN AN INDEPENDENT BREWERY - HOW DO WE TAKE PART?
Participating breweries are chosen by the venues themselves, so if you run an independent brewery and you'd like to be involved in the future, you can always contact a venue directly. Alternatively, drop us an email at hastingstaptakeover@gmail.com, and we'll pass on details to any participants who might not have made a final decision. Please note that decisions on breweries are finalised in July, so the earlier you get in touch the better.
